Re: 10 Big Valley Facts

Did you know that Richard Long's first wife was a cousin ofLucille Ball? Suzan Ball. She went to Hollywood to pursue an acting career. She was diagnosed with tumors in her leg and it was amputated. She and Richard Long married, but she died about a year later at the age of twenty-one. He sure had a...

Re: The Big Valley

I was watching an episode last night, I think it was called A Day of Terror, and do you remember the one who played Marilla Cuthbert in the Anne of Green Gables movie with Megan Follows? Colleen Dewhurst? She played, of all things, an outlaw, who was holding Victoria and Audra hostage in a church b...

Re: 10 Big Valley Facts

8) Ever wondered why Jarrod always got knocked out so much? Well due to having a weak heart caused by the Pneumonia as well as a heart attack in 1957, Richard Long couldn't do as much stunt work as the rest of his castmates so instead of having a double do all the work, it was just easier to have h...

10 Big Valley Facts

Because why not. 10) The only real ages known in the entire series were Audra and Heath's. In A Day of Terror, Audra is 19 and in the series opener Palms of Glory, Heath is 24. 9) There is some truth about a cast member in one episode. In By Fires Unseen Victoria mentions that Jarrod nearly died fro...

Re: The Big Valley

Next day, he's at home and walking around. Toward the end of the episode, he gets shot again, in the right shoulder. That ...

Re: The Big Valley

When Jarrod married, I believe he'd only known her for a week or so. He just showed up back home married. Didn't they meet on a train and when I came time for her (for him) to debark, they decided to marry? Yeah. Met on a train when he was coming back from Washington. They had been married for thre...

Re: The Big Valley

Just an observation - TBV is set in 1876 and beyond, while Bonanza is said to be set in the 1860s. A lot happened, historically, in the Nevada/California areas between the 1860 and 1876, making the shows as different as they are similar, IMO. I had remembered that it was 1876 but then it bounced ar...
