A Letter to the #1 Pa

Dear Pa Cartwright,
You never knew me and, I surely never knew you.
But, I needed a Pa and, when I saw you on Bonanza,
I said - no one else will do.
You're deep brown eyes bore through me,
you saw right into my heart.
That pointy finger taught
a lesson - kept, right and wrong apart.
And on this father's day, Pa
though many years have gone
between the now and then.
I just wanted you to know Pa
I still do love you,
