Robert Vaughn in the Way Station, Season 4
Robert played the villain, Luke Martin in The Way Station. A killer on the run, he takes refuge in a way station run by the ornery Jesse and his granddaughter, Marty, who he deceives with his empty promises. Martin butts heads with Adam when their stagecoach makes a stopover there. He takes the passengers and crew hostage, as a posse closes in on him.
Robert Francis Vaughn is an Academy Award-nominated American actor noted for stage, film and television work. His most famous role was that of DDG spy Napoleon Solo in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (1964 - 1968). After being discharged from the Army (he was a drill sergeant) and earning two college degrees, he tried his hand at acting. His first job was in The Ten Commandments. Look for him the next time you watch it! He was an extra in a cast of thousands! He is the only surviving star of The Magnificent Seven (1960). He played a crooked capitalist in Bullitt (1968) and a veteran con man in Hustle (2004 - 2012), among other roles.
Now married to wife Linda and the father of two children, Vaughn had a string of famous girlfriends: actor Barbara Eden whom he dated in late 1950's; actress Natalie Wood; TV actress and beauty queen Mary Ann Mobley; Patricia Kennedy Lawford, daughter of Joseph P. Kennedy and Kathleen Kennedy, daughter of Robert and Ethel Kennedy.
Here is a shot of Vaughn (with an unidentified female costar) as Napoleon Solo:

From my Collection
Vaughn's latest autobiography titled Christ, Hamlet, Ho Chi Minh: As I Knew Them is due out, soon.

Vaughn, who received his Ph.D from the University of Southern California, is the author of yet another book, Only Victims. In it he gives us a close-up look at show business blacklisting. His book has been referred to as "one of the definitive works in the field".

In his first autobiography A Fortunate Life (first published in 2008) , Vaughn writes:

"A wise man one remarked, 'If you do the thing you love, you'll never have to work a day in your life'. I did and I haven't."

Based on leafing through the Kindle edition of his published biography, I find Robert to be an outstanding writer. His easygoing style makes you feel as if you are sitting across the room from him, having a conversation. Just reading the titles of the chapters draws you in-they are hilarious, and the funniest can't be quoted in a family forum! :lol Check it out on Amazon.com! (Go through the banner here on Boomers!) :yes

Many thanks to Gillie for giving me some great leads on this story! :winking

:write A note from Gillie and nyspats:

Some of you eagle-eyed Boomers may be wondering why Joe'sGal is using two caps each day, when the POD rule is to only use one. The rule is in place to make sure there are plenty of unused guest star caps left for future POD's.

Jan has given her permission in this case for the following reasons:
1) The two caps are necessary for the theme of the POD.
2) The two caps are of the same actor.
3) The second cap is from Joe'sGals private collection.

:thanks Jan
