Dean Jones played ex-convict Danny Kidd, who saved Joe's life and got to go to the Ponderosa on parole, in "The Friendship." Danny had a hard time trusting anybody outside prison, and Joe was determined to help him!
I've seen Dean Jones in a lot of old Disney movies--he was in the Herbie series, as well as a number of animal-related films--and my favorite of his is That Darn Cat! with Hayley Mills. I also really enjoy his performance in Blackbeard's Ghost.
