Arthur Hunnicutt made guest appearances in four Bonanza episodes: "The Hanging Posse," "Any Friend of Walter's," "Walter and the Outlaws," and "Dead Wrong." Here he is in "Walter and the Outlaws," the episode in which he leaves Walter the dog for the Cartwrights to babysit while he goes to visit his sister.
Like many other Bonanza guest stars, Arthur Hunnicutt started out on Broadway before going to movie and TV acting. Onscreen, he played a lot of friendly backwoodsmen. He also played other roles now and again. Here's a picture of him in 1949, without the beard, in The Great Dan Patch. (He's on the left.)
