Summary: Charlie Two, a young half breed, vows to kill Ben for turning in his father to the law, after his father is hung for killing an unarmed man. Joe befriends the boy and tries to persuade him not to seek revenge, without Charlie Two knowing who Joe is.

Watched this today, second viewing. Great ep, I really like the character of Charlie 2. Was surprised to see Ben investing in a gold mine, did I hear that right!?
Couldn't quite make out this sign, is Joe coming from Elkton? Never heard of it.

I wondered why Joe didn't twig early on that the young 'halfbreed' in the bar was the same young 'halfbreed' that he was searching for.
Also, Charlie 2 told his pa that he remembered what it was like when his ma was still alive and how he remembered her crying, but later he told Joe that she died when he was a baby. Incidentally, Joe said the same about his mummy too, that he "never even knew her"!
Ben did a good impression of a social worker at the end of the ep, taking on full responsibility for Charlie 2 and his education. What a guy!
Really enjoy this ep.

The writers like to change things in episodes just to give us Boomers something to talk about. In several episodes Marie died when he's 4 or 5 and in The Storm, Joe told Laura his mother died right after he was born. Don't the writers bother to watch the show?

I liked this episode pretty well, especially since it was shaping up to be a Ben focused episode but then switched it up and gave me a good amount of Joe content instead. We noticed the error already pointed out about Joe and his mother's death but another notable moment of the show being wrong for me was towards the end when the Deputy says he stopped by Downieville on the way back to Virginia City from Carson City. Downieville is in California and not at all on the way back from Carson City, in fact he would have had to go the opposite direction to go to Downieville as he would to go to Virginia City. Not exactly episode ruining but just a funny thing I noticed.

It's a good thing many of us don't know where Downieville is. It went right past my head! Maybe the writer knew exactly where Downieville is and hoped someone would catch this!
