If you like the westerns we’re currently discussing, you may have liked other western TV shows. So why don’t we discuss them here! Post about western conventions (non Bonanza), the shows, the actors and anything you want to discuss.
I always like The Rifleman. There is that similar "love of your family" dynamic as on Bonanza, that made the show stand apart. The bond between Lucas and his son, Mark, was very special, as the bond between Ben and his sons.
I never saw this show in prime time, but I've been watching it on MeTV and I'm getting hooked! I saw an especially good ep the other day in which Mark almost dies of typhoid fever. I loved the end when Mark recovers and wakes up to see his scruffy-faced father sitting next to him. Lucas hadn't shaved during the bedside vigil and Mark asked if he had lost his razor. Lucas started to explain and then, overwhelmed, stopped talking and just pulled Mark into a tight hug.
That was a fantastic ep, Pearson. I just watched "The Surveyors" on YouTube. Look it up-I think you would really like it.

I agree, debbiejo. I think that anyone who likes Bonanza should give The Rifleman a try.
Herofan, Hubby and I just watched your vid. Nice! I saw another there that was awesome! Dick Clark was interviewing a young Bob Costas about his favorite 1960's TV show. Then he had a little surprise for him. Actually, a 6'5" surprise...
