Wayne Newton was born Carson Wayne Newton in 1942. He became a singer performing in Las Vegas and is known as "Mr. Las Vegas." His appearances in those two Bonanza episodes were his first two onscreen appearances. After that, Wayne went on to act and sing in 38 more movies and TV shows, but his primary focus was always singing. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and as recently as 2001 he would perform to a packed house six nights a week in Las Vegas.
