Howard Duff played Mark Twain in Season 1's "Enter Mark Twain." I thought his character was great! 
It was nice to see a historical character who really lived in Virginia City, although some of the historical facts were changed in the episode.

A bit of trivia: Howard Duff was married to Ida Lupino, who played Annie O'Toole in the Bonanza episode "The Saga of Annie O'Toole." Sadly, they got divorced after 33 years of marriage.
