Re: A Man Called Shenandoah ~ 1965-1966

I never saw this series. I find it interesting that he was a star of Wagon Train and quit the show and was given another starring role shortly after. I never read anything questioning his decision to leave Wagon Train. He certainly wasn’t hounded about it like Pernell was.

Re: Episode 172 - THANKS FOR EVERYTHING FRIEND

The first four episodes of Bonanza season 6 were solo missions for each Cartwright family member. Thanks for Everything, Friend is Adam's adventure. It's been stated elsewhere online that Rory Calhoun's Tom Wilson character was a nod to the title character in the "modern western" movie, Hud (1963),...

I have to say that the expression on Ben's face here is priceless. As if he would ever sell the Ponderosa.

Re: The Guns of Will Sonnett ~ 1967-1969

I have a very good memory of this show. My dad loved Walter Brennan and so this show was a staple in our home. I didn't mind watching, after all Dack was easy on the eyes. Anyway, for many years I heard the catch phrase "no brag, just fact". Tracy, you have done an excellent review and synopsis of t...

I was too young to remember Frontier Justice. I have seen Zane Gray, but only recently.

Re: Episode 104 - A HOT DAY FOR A HANGING

Seems like something always goes wrong when the Cartwrights are transporting large amounts of money. I didn't like this episode. I don't like any episode where one of our heroes is going to be lynched. The sheriff was a dirty coward. He should have gone to telegraph Ben immediately. Instead we see ...

Re: Episode 1 - A ROSE FOR LOTTA

I was 4 when this episode aired. I think part of the reason they were so hostile to outsiders coming onto the Ponderosa at first is because people were trying to take it away from them. So they were trying to protect what was theirs. Remember, Lotta was sent there to lure one of the boys into Virgi...

Re: Dick Powell's Zane Grey Theatre ~ 1956-1961

Besides the episodes with Pernell, I have seen The Mormons with Bing. It also has Tuesday Weld and Mark Goddard. Another tidbit, Michael Ansara had no Native American blood. His ancestry is from the Middle East. I have seen a couple of Johnny Ringo episodes and Karen Sharpe from "The Ape" episode is...

Re: Episode 98 - THE LONG NIGHT

I just watched this last night, it aired on TVLand and I recorded it. They cut so much out of all the episodes and I don't appreciate it. Wait til you see how much they cut out of Mountain Girl. In a couple of months MeTV will be finished with the later episodes and hopefully starting over. They do...
