Re: Episode 44 - THE SAVAGE

I just want to know where Ruth found her hairspray. Maybe the Aquanet cans are in that humongous trunk she dragged behind on a travois while she lived with the Indians. :rotfl :lol You really cracked me up! :laughing Ruth did have great hair for a woman who lived alone in a cave on a mountain. When...

Re: Episode 44 - THE SAVAGE

Very interesting point about Adam saying to both women, "Let it go." I don't want to generalize, but a lot of men seem to have trouble dealing with a woman's very deep feelings. So they just say "let it go". They really don't know what else to say. And it wasn't just part of the era that Adam lived ...

Re: Episode 44 - THE SAVAGE

"I think Ruth was real, but Adam in his fevered state..." wasn't! :grin I'm thinking Ruth was a "fevered" dream after Adam took an arrow in the leg. I could never get over the idea that Ruth had a big trunk with all her belongings. Just HOW did she carry it , running away from those bad men? :no And...

Re: nothing original comes to mind

No need to feel awkward. We all love this show and our Cartwrights! it's perfectly normal here. In fact the people who DON"T love Bonanza are strange to us. :yes Welcome aboard!!

Re: Episode 101 - THE FIRST BORN

Well adamant, I can see how a wife would be peeved if her husband brought a new woman home. :grin But it's a different matter when parents bring home a new baby. They are not "cheating" on their other children! Anyway while it's normal to look forward to a new baby brother or sister, many children a...

Re: Episode 101 - THE FIRST BORN

Yeah, I think if it was real life, the Cartwrights would've accepted any family who came to the Ponderosa. But in the life of TV actors, new and handsome co-stars could be perceived as a bit of a threat! :grin Adam and Hoss were mature adults. Hoss especially was great about "taking in strays". Anyo...

Re: Episode 101 - THE FIRST BORN

OK, first off, Clay didn't strike me as the Cartwright type, so definitely Little Joe would have to be my pick. Clay didn't seem like the type of person that would fit in. From the information that I gathered about his character, he was reckless, irresponsible, a drifter. Even though he was Joe's h...

Re: Episode 101 - THE FIRST BORN

Well, not a permanent member of the family on the Ponderosa, but it would have made for some interesting stories if Clay made an appearance every now and then. Obviously Clay was NOT a Cartwright, Ben wasn't his father who raised him so it's not strange that he was different from the other sons. But...

Re: Episode 147 - THE PRIME OF LIFE

Been thinking some more about this episode. A lot of good insights offered here. It WAS difficult to watch Ben in this position since he was usually so strong and decisive and in control. But he wasn't always that way Everyone has a breaking point. After Elizabeth died, grieved for a long time. When...

Re: Episode 147 - THE PRIME OF LIFE

No, don't think Ben was EVER a quitter. It was no fun watching him hang around the house in his bathrobe, seemingly defeated. But I must say it was more like he was face to face with his conscience and realizing that his competition with Barney Fuller blinded him to other more important things, name...
