Re: Episode 204 - THE DILEMMA

I saw this episode for the first time the otehr day when I received my Season 8 boxed set. It was a great pleaseure to see a "new" Bonanza. I thought it was a bit far fetched that Ben was appointed judge, but did make sense in the context of a leading citizen with good moral compass. I liked this ep...

Re: Episode 143 - THE QUALITY OF MERCY

DEfintely a very controversal episode for the 1960's and would still be a controversal episode today. As Elizabeth stated Ben was very harsh on Joe. I thought Adam showed Joe more compassion than Ben.

Defitintely a tough episode in any era.

Re: Episode 143 - THE QUALITY OF MERCY

A very good episode, I agree. It demonstrated Joe was emotionally maturing. He knew the killing was wrong. He also liked his friend and had a hard time accepting that he would murder. His conflict within himself and the lashing out at his family was very well done. I too loved the JAM, one of the ve...

Re: Episode 145 - THE LEGACY

In my opinion this is probably the number one episode of all 430. Each son has a different temperment and each is faced with the presumed loss of his father. They each look for "their man" and their first reactions are not typical of the their individual demeanor. The story shows the the love the so...

Re: Episode 78 - THE FRENCHMAN

Not one of my favorite episodes, but it does a couple of good moments. First off, Eloise bothered me and Joe running around after her bothered me. I did like how the Frenchman cut of Hoss's buttons. As someone said earlier, the continuity was not always there. Yes, Hoss did "play" with an epee in se...

Re: Episode 36 - THE MILL

The things I love about this episode, is all the Cartwrights pulling together to build the mill. It really showed how they pulled together as a family to achieve an end goal. It is clear how much Joe also admires Adam's ingenuity. I agree with others that more than likely Ben was in love with Joyce ...

Re: Episode 304 - DIFFERENT PINES, SAME WIND

I recently rewatched this episode. I have to say it is one of my favorites. It shows how caring and understanding Joe can be, how much natural empathy Joe has for the old woman. A totally different side of Joe we do not see very often. This episode is definitely in my top five of all Bonanza episodes.
