Nina Shipman was born on 15th August, 1938 in Los Angeles into a show business family. Her grandmother Nell Shipman was a Canadian-born actress, writer, producer and animal trainer best known her portrayals of strong, adventurous women. Her father Barry changed from acting to writing and became a prolific writer with a long list of credits for screen and TV. Her mother Gwynne was also an actress.

In the late 50’s Nina was part of the young Hollywood scene of the time and a Bonanza connection is one of her early romances was with Barry Coe.

She was a close friend of Jill St. John and was a bridesmaid at her first wedding to Barbara Hutton’s son Lance.

Nina started her career in 1958 with small parts in films – she had a small part in Vertigo where she was mistaken for Kim Novak, a few small parts in films followed among them The Hunters, The Oregan Trail and Say One For Me. By 1960 she was in demand as a TV actress and worked throughout the sixties in a variety of shows including Maverick, Rawhide, Dr. Kildare and Perry Mason.

In the 1970’s the appearances were fewer but she was still featured in fan columns and told columnist Mike Connolly tells that she's taking up hawk training – something she must have inherited from her grandmother.

There is one more Bonanza connection. Michael Landon cast her in Highway to Heaven" A Night to Remember in 1987 which appears to be her last credited TV appearance.

She married her second husband Don Bremer in1975, she previously married in 1961 and divorced in 1973 with two children from that marriage.
Her daughter Lani Bremer followed her into the acting profession.
